2006 LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

COLLEEN BOLDEN SMITH

Dear Members:

As I conclude my third year as president, I am encouraged about the progress of the organization and I am so proud of the work you do. In my position, I have a unique view. I see the work that individual members have contributed to the organization; I see the efforts of the various committees; and I see our members busy in the community navigating white waters while making inroads in their respective missions.

The year has exhibited a number of successes. The Indianapolis Chapter has just completed a very successful Gourmet Gents fundraiser. The much needed amendments to our bylaws and revisions to our operating procedures have been approved and implemented. Our newest members are in place and ready to contribute. We are fiscally sound and our fiduciary matters are in excellent shape. And yes, there is still more to do.

This has been a year of great challenges also, such as the rippling hardship of hurricane Katrina and the devastating effects of HIV/AIDs on the African American community. Aptly, NCBW has been actively involved. We have been busy speaking out, lobbying, and educating our communities. As yes, there is still much more to be done.

Recognizing that it is not easy to be on the forefront of every battle, I must give credit where credit is due. I salute you as my warrior sisters. From the board of directors to every individual member, I say thank you. The National Coalition of 100 Black Women-Indianapolis Chapter, Inc.-you rock!

Sincerely,

Colleen
