Breakthrough Women

The Breakthrough Women program was started in 1988 under the leadership of Attorney Fay Williams. Since that time, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women-Indianapolis Chapter, Inc. has recognized over 100 Black women in the Indianapolis community who have broken through barriers...who have achieved a level of accomplishment far above and beyond that which is considered typical in her profession.  Indeed, they are Breakthrough Women.

Breakthrough Women 1988-2006

It takes courage to venture into the unknown, to go where no black woman has gone before, to test your limits, to break through barriers.

The Breakthrough Women program was started in 1988 under the leadership of Attorney Fay Williams.  Since then, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Indianapolis Chapter, has recognized over 75 black women in the community who have broken through the barriers, who have achieved a level of accomplishment far above and beyond that which is considered typical in her profession...who are Breakthrough Women.  The 2005 Breakthrough Women awards were presented Saturday, June 4, 2005 at the historic Madame C.J. Walker Theater Center.
